Back from Everest!

I feel like I've been in a paint mixer for the last four days! Although I shouldn't complain- my seat in the back of a 4x4 was still a great deal better than braving the dust-storms on the back of a tractor for miles on end. All in all I had a great time with Matt K. and our new-found friends Joost and John, driving all day seeing monasteries and interesting sites, and playing card games late into the night. My favorite quote of the trip, Joost, claiming to have brought up in the Netherlands to be non-competitive, while playing a late-night game of hearts, "I must admit, I have been having some negative feelings when I get the hearts..." It's only natural Joost, nobody wants the hearts.
This internet connection appears to not want to upload photos, so I guess I'll have to wait till I get to Beijing, or at least to Chengdu in a few days. Till then, I love you all, unless you're a dirty, dirty spammer...

Sorry for the Long Hiatus

I'm in Tibet at the moment, about to embark on a 4-5 day journey to Everest and some of the interesting temples and sights along the way. I made it through my finals OK, though I botched an essay in one of my classes. Oh well, it's so peaceful here, I barely have time to worry about something so trifling as that! As soon as I get somewhere where I can actually transfer my pictures to a computer I'll put some of the good ones up here. Till then, you'll all have to be content to savour this piece of literary acheivement...
Wish me warmth, and a wonderful New Years to you all!
Love,
Matt
