Like a Digital Ex-Lax!
Finally, I can at least get to blogger.com again so I can post! Hooray!
It's been such a long time, I'm not really sure where to start. I've made it most of the way through my second semester without incident, mostly oweing to my wonderful teachers (I really lucked out this time around). Family and friends have come, and then gone again much too quickly. I don't have the energy to write anything comprehensive, so I'll start with the most recent.
Lauren came to visit for a week while I was on vacation for the 1st of May, one of China's three national holidays. We went and saw the sights, like the forbidden city, my favorite bars and restaurants, etc... It was almost like having just moved here again, showing all these things I've come to love, to someone that I've loved since I was only 1 month old (and still, way back then, I was taller, too).
We went to the Great Wall on tuesday, to a section untouched by the hand of those that feel that newer and shinier is the best way to present history to tourists. We only saw the 2 other people in our group and our guide for a good 3 hours! Soo nice after being overwhelmed by an even more crowded than usual Beijing. We were almost convinced not to go when we discovered that it was raining in the morning, but I'm glad we went anyways. The wall was really beautiful in the fog, it was like walking through a dream.
I'm getting a little sleepy, and I'm starting to sense the turn for the worse that my English has taken, so I'm gonna let a few pictures do the rest of the talking for me. Some of you I'll see in a week, some in a month, and some who knows when, but I'd like to wish you all well, and I hope you're not angry with me for the paucity of my post of late!

Oh, Matthew, what beautiful photos. It's so wonderful to see Lauren there with you in China. And your sweet note put a couple of tears in my eyes. You and Lauren are peas in a pod even when the pod crosses continents and time zones. Love,Gwen
